BADMINTON England Junior Circuit Defined
Format of Circuit Tournaments
The preliminary round of the singles and level doubles in all circuit
tournaments will be played in pools. The pool size will depend on the
size of entry. For Gold events the average size pool will be three,
and for Silver events the average pool size should be four. For Bronze
events the minimum pool size will be four.
The winner only from each group qualifies for the
knock-out rounds.
BADMINTON England Gold Circuit (UK School
Games Qualifying Events for 2008)
Gold tournaments are BADMINTON England Junior tournaments
which may be run on our behalf by County BAs. Any grade of player is
eligible to enter these events. Valid entries received from all Grade
1 players within their own age group will be accepted. Singles players
will be restricted using the Ranking Lists on the BE website as at the
closing date (average anticipated entry will be 70 singles players).
Doubles pairs will be restricted by the S&Y Seeding Committee as in
past years to take into account performance in doubles events. Games
will be best of 3 to 21 rally points (extended to 30 if necessary).
All Gold Tournaments will be two day events with
the Semi-finals and Finals being played on the Sunday.
Target group is Grade 1 and 2 players.
BADMINTON England Silver Circuit
These events are part of the BADMINTON England Junior
circuit, run on our behalf by County BAs. Any grade of player (except
for Grade 1 players from within the age group) may enter these events.
Valid entries received from all Grade 2 players within their own age
group will be accepted. Except for Under 11 Silver Tournaments, games
will be the best of 3 to 15 rally points (extended to 21 if
necessary). Average anticipated entry will be 80 singles players.
Target group is Grade 2 and 3 Players.
Under 11 SINGLES and DOUBLES: All Under 11 Silver
tournaments are ungraded and the initial rounds of these events will
be played in pools, pool sizes being as large as the entry will
permit. Each match will be the best of 3 games to 11 rally points,
extended to 15 where necessary.
BADMINTON England Bronze Circuit
These events are part of the BADMINTON England Junior
circuit, run on our behalf by County BAs. Any grade of player (except
for Grade 1 or 2 players from within the age group) may enter these
events. Games will be 1 game to 21 rally points. This is extended to
30 points in the knock-out rounds only. Average anticipated entry will
be 80 singles players.
Target group is Grade 3 and Ungraded players.
N.B. Graded players, when playing in the age-group
above, (unless their names appear on the older age-group lists),
should be regarded as one grade lower than that in their own age-group
(e.g. U13 grade 1 becomes U15 grade 2 becomes U17 Grade 3).
Silver and Bronze Tournaments will normally be run
on one day, consisting of singles and level doubles only, and all
events must be played to their conclusion on that day.
Restricting entry to oversubscribed Gold,
Silver or Bronze Tournaments:
Where entries need to be restricted, your tournament
committee should use the following criteria:
-
Late entries.
-
For Bronze events, preference may be given to more local players.
-
Known form, using the ranking lists posted on the BADMINTON
ENGLAND website on the entry closing date.
-
Age. If the above two do not provide us with a clear list of
withdrawals, those borderline players who fall outside the age
group will be omitted first. In Bronze events this will be
considered before known form.
MEDALS
Presented to all players involved in the semi-finals and
finals of all events.
